My project deals with people's images of cultural histories that are produced by contemporary medias in our society. Modern people’s notions of Asian history are often what media (such as TV dramas, movies and novels) transforms and reconstructs it to be. Although the history is mediated through entertainment media, it still refers to real history.  But my work process is to mediate the mediated history, adding fantasies that I also get from contemporary entertainment sources.  Therefore, my works are more outrageous than dramas and movies, even though the content is still based on true history.  This character of my works evokes the questions of whether our understandings of historical fact have been compromised.

      TV historical dramas are designed to create illusions that seamlessly blend historical facts with entertaining plot lines, idealism, and romance.  In my work I exaggerate the entertainment aspect of video in order to allow the audience to decipher fact from fiction. It is my hope that the audience will question what and who have worked to reconstruct the original history in the contemporary society, and with what intention.
